I'm getting 15 mpg around town. Bone stock '93 5.0/AOD out of a Mustang that I've rebuilt and it's coupled to a 3.31 rear gear. The only addition is Hedman shorty headers and a K&N filter. The drivetrain isn't in a Mustang, it's in my '54 Customline. The Mustang and Customline are basically the same weight. I was hoping to do a little better than 15 mpg. Is that about right? Is there anything I can do to boost mpg? Here's what I've got...............

Never really cared enough to check what I was getting to be honest. I would say 15-16 sounds right. Maybe a couple miles more.

That sounds Ok for around town.... Have you had it on the freeway?
My BMW got around 14 intown but would do 25 on the highway...

That’s a clean ass engine bay!

I’m on the same tank of gas from like October 2024 where some of it was run with the wrong Speedo gear so I’m no help with gas mileage.

Depends on how far down and how fast that right foot goes. I get 9 mpg or so in town but I probably have a little too much fun. Highway is 21-22 mpg. This is with a 331 with right at 460 fwhp, T5, and 3.73’s.

Couldn't tell you. I don't drive it the most efficient way and tend to not use 5th if i can avoid it. I'm prone to riding my gears out to 3K RPM all the time and have a habit of making a stop as the gas station pretty much every time I go out for a ride.

TBH fuel efficiency is the least of my concerns in any of the vehicles I own. When the gas tank gets to 1/4, I fill it up.

My ysi 347 gets 11-13 with an aod and a decent sized converter and can cruise 70-75 no problem

When I had a manual , smaller heads and blower 20mpg was not uncommon on a long trip
