question about gauges

i was thinking about putying in an aftermarket tack and i was wanting to know how much trouble is it to install? i also want to put some gauges on the collum by the windshild is it hard to install those gauges? i know this are probable easy things to do but i dont know how hard they are and want to know before i buy the gauges. thanxs

It's really not that hard. You just have to run wire to power the gauge, and another to whatever your gague is monitering (sp?) such as boost, fuel pressure, oil press. ect. Plus most gauges come with instructions.

ok thanxs for the info. i want to get me a big tack that looks cool and i think having one makes the car look faster
Well you know for the price of a 5" tach, you could buy a turbo motor and actually GO fast instead of just "looking" fast. ;)

No offense or anything, but I would be kinda embarassed driving around an 18 second car with a huge 5" tach. Kinda Fast & Furious Style I guess. All show no go. And besides, the revs in a n/a 2.3 build up so slow (even in first gear) that it doesn't really warrent a big tach w/ shift light.

just my $.02

well im thinking of going turbo later but thats when i get my new mustang assuming i can ever find me an 87-93 mustang convertable white lx 5.0 with white gray or blue interior for a good price and when i get that me and my dad are going to take the car i got now and do a turbo swap.

I went thru the same story here 2 years ago. Get the tach and pay no mind
to all the 18 second, big ass look, car is too slow stuff. So you want to
know what your real rpm are.

The tach has a white wire for lights. I spliced into a wire on the headlight switch so it'll fade with the dash lights as well.

The tach has a red wire for power. I spliced into the wire behind the fuse panel for my a/c. I dont have one anymore so it was free.

The tach has a black wire for ground, anywhere on the body in the car is fine.

The tach has a green wire you need to splice into on your coil. It should be the green wire also. This is where it picks up you rpm signal.

The rest is just finding where you want it mounted and screwing inthe mounting plate.
