im looking at buying a 95 gt with a few things done to it, the kid says it has gt40 heads on it, the owner before him told him that. i looked at them an i see it still has the smog hook ups in the back of the heads, do the aluminum gt 40 heads come with those hook ups or do only the cast iron ones do? is there any way i can tell if they are real gt40 by lookin at them on the car?thanks

Yes, the GT40 heads have "GT" cast into the flange on the passenger front lower head by the exhaust.

gt40 heads also have 2 or 3 vertical lines or bars on the upper corner of the face (part of the head that the brackets bolt to) close to the lower intake. I say 2 or 3 because one is for reg. gt40 heads, and the other is for gt40"p" heads. My heads (non-"P") also had a gt cast into the part around the vavle cover on one of the corners of this area.

Original GT-40 irons have 3 bars

P heads have 4 bars

aluminum GT-40's have no bars but do have all the same bolt holes and egr stuff.

Thought it was 2 and 3 but it has been awhile since I checked. However, E7 heads had no bars so if they have them they are at least some form of gt40.

I'm pretty sure E7's have 2 lines, GT 40s 3 lines, and GT 40Ps have 4 lines
