I know this dont apply to the actuator but i was wondering if anyone could help me with the door lock. My driver side lock will not open with the key, the key will go in but it will not turn my dad tried using graphite on it and it still will not work i was wondering if anyone else knows something i could do to fix it. at first it wasnt a very big deal but it is starting to be a very big deal

so it feels like the key being used is not the right one (i know it is, but goin for symptoms). have you tried jiggling the key around in there (and pulling it back out a smidge)? could someone have jambed something in your lock slot?

the cylinder mechanically turns, which moves a rod and linkage in the door, IIRC. worst case, pop the door inner panel and check it out. it should be pretty cheap to pop the lock cylinder out and have a lock smith rekey it (if it is worn out). if you do it yourself, there is a U-shaped clip that holds the cylinder in the door, and a piece of linkage to undo.

good luck.

does the key work on the other door. unless someone was totally retarded, the keys should match (rekeying a lock costs very little).
if all else fails, pop it out (it is easy) and have a locksmith take a look. sometimes the tumblers get messed up. good luck.

Just to throw it out there... motormite makes the door lock actuators for our cars. The parts counter person may have to look in a catalog to find them, but they ARE made by motormite. And most any parts house can get 'em since everybody gets motormite stuff under one name or another.

so how does the door lock rod connect to the actuator? if i have the time today, i'll take the driver side door panel off to see how its connected. but if some one can save me the hassell of doing that and to tell me how it connects, i would be very thankful.
