Question about racing aprons

I got one from Mustang plus $165 and it cost me $60 to send it back. (oversize shipping charge from UPS) It was not even close to fitting without major body work to the apron. The salesman warned me that even they do not install their own aprons, but send the aprons out to a body shop to be installed. Now I pride myself in doing all my own work, but the effort it was going to take to install it was not worth it. I was going to install it for more airflow into the radiator, but as it turns out its only good for a few degrees at speed but nothing at idle. I ended up cutting/forming an opening into the steel apron, which looks just as good as the fiberglass, but fits a whole lot better.

Fit can be something of a crapshoot - mine takes two people to get it lined up, but it still doesn't match up perfectly. As far as I know - all are bolt on (except for the people who I've seen actually glass them into the front end).

My car is used primarily on the track and I'm not as concerned with looks as I used to be, but I still think it looks pretty good. The spoiler on the front of mine does help keep the front end stable when I'm at speed at the end of the straights. It also gave me a place to mount my brake ducts (easier to do on fiberglass than sheet metal).

You can see how it doesn't match up in this picture (the sun just happened to be in the best place to show off the poor fit - I'm putting in a link, rather than the pic so users with slower connections don't come gunning for me!):

I've had good luck with Branda fiberglass. My apron is from Maiers Racing (where Mustangs Plus gets them) and it is sturdy, but fit was less than perfect. I would expect that any fiberglass would need fitting and would just consider myself lucky if it fit without at least some work to finish it.

I have the same hood and apron as you, but both of mine are from Maier. I have the same type of fitment problems and plan on paying a bodyman to do the final job.

Not trying to pick nits here but it looks to me that your fit problem might be the fender, notice the headlight bucket also doesn't fit quite right?
