Question about Ram-Air Hoods...

I've got a question for all of you Proud 'Stang Owners:

I've got a 2006 GT, and I'm thinking of purchasing a Functional Ram-Air Hood; I like the Agressive-Look and it would help improve the Air-Flow to my CAI.
I wash my car every 4-5 days, and I was wondering if people (with Functional Hoods) have issues with Water getting under their Hood. If so, is this a Major Issue, or what should I be aware of before purchasing such a Hood?

Any Input would be Greatly Appreciated.

You bring up a good point. If some water gets on the engine its no big deal, as long as the electrics arnt soaked. But i wonder what would happen if you got water ont the air filter, some of that specail sauce will wash out. I guess you could stuff the holes with something if your that worried about it.

the amount of water that would enter through the vents would be very minimal...it would all more then likely be evaporated by the heat of the motor. It might require an engine detail more often...that's it. I love the Ram Air hood as well.

I gotta agree with cLeAnRaCiNgLdR.. you could also start the engine to make the moisture evaporate quicker. Also the only time I have ever heard someone worry about electronics getting wet is if they use a pressure washer under the hood.

Which ram air hood you looking at?

GTR or Cali Dreamer... I keep going back and forth between the two.

Thanks for the Input!

Right now I'm leaning more towards the Cali-Dream Hood, but I really want a Carbon Fiber Ram-Air Hood. I'm probably going to wait to see if anything new comes out before the end of the summer.

ide like to know also because im thinking of getting the saleen style hood just get lower the under the hood temps

Anyone know if these hoods actually do lower temps under the hood? I can't believe how much hotter this thing runs than my old 88.

I have the cali-dream hood and dont have any issues with water. The whole hood is "hollow" and its not really a direct shot right thru the vent to the hole in the bottom of the hood. After a good washing you can hear water sloshing around in the hood when you raise it, so I put a couple drain holes at the back corners of the hood, so after a washing I simply raise the hood and let the water drain out the back and problems solved. I own a car wash, so it gets washed about every time its out.

That hood is sweet, but I have been asking around about the ventilation for quite a while. I recently saw a picture of the underside of the hood and both the saleen slats on top and the "ram air" holes on the front all appear to be purely cosmetic, not functional. So it would require some modification to benefit the car beyond the cool look.
