I have an 06 GT manual transmission and when I run it up to 6000 rpms or a little over it feels like someone is putting on the brakes. Am I hitting the rev. limit or what exactly is happening? I had the traction control turned off.

did the rpms suddenly drop and the go up and drop and go up. because if that's what happened than yeah... you hit the rev limiter. shift right before six grand.

Yep, if you are bouncing off the rev limiter you will definately know it.

At the time I did not look at the tack so I am not sure if it went down and then back up. At the time I just shifted into the next gear. The car did a nosedive before I shifted.

Sounds like you hit the rev limiter, I hit it once on the highway and it was brutal, the car felt like I blew the motor!!! The only other possibility is that you shift gears too slow and the RPM's are dropping but i'm leaning towards rev limiter.

I was thinking it must be the rev limit i was hitting before shifting up. It wasn't from slow shifting because the car nose dived while I was still accelerating in gear.
