Question about shift boot

Air comes thru my shifter bezel because the rubber and such is ripping..

under there there is just this:



and this right?



I just want to make sure that this is all that is under there.

and how does the upper shift boot leather connect to the lower shift boot with metal ring?

if i remember correctly it you twist the pin till it clicks been a while since i messed with one...but thats how i put the boot on the 86.

they dont connect to each other. only on the 79-86 models They only connect by 4 bolts.... 87-93 there are 2 boots all together..

The gold peice bolts to the trans tunnel

the other shift bolt is held to the shifter bezel trim peice by small clips. Be careful when removing your old boot otherwise the plastic pins break and then you need to buy the shifter bezel as well. Take your old shift bezel/boot out and you'll see how it fits

My plastic pins all already broken cuz that shifter boot is not connected to the bezel.

then you will need to buy a new bezel to attach it

I taped mine on... I have an aftermarket boot and this seemed to work alright for the time being. I think a little RTV should hold it fine.
