Question about the warranty! (yah i know)

Okay well I got some FRPP 4.10s with a DM speed cal in my room staring at me begging to be put in! currently i have 27000 miles and am still under wanrranty... How bad would the input of these be to the warranty? In general? complete void? thanks!

would void your rear-end, basically. Anything that can justifiably said that the gears directly caused the problem with.. same for the Speed Cal...

If your A/C compressor dies, it's not because you have 4.10s. If your blinker fluid needs to be refilled, they won't refuse because of the gears... so figuer rear-end, possibly your posi-unit. Probably that's it...

A lot depends on the dealer.. the more of a jerk they are, the harder it will be to get them to honor the warranty. But the law states that only those parts "Directly impacted" by the Aftermarket part can be voided.

In Cali it will void your emission warranty to change gears. I could explain but after going to SEMA for a couple of years I have seen and heard it all from the manufactures.

I would just find you a "Mod-Friendly" dealer.
I work for one.
With only 9K to go on your warranty, I wouldn't worry about it.
Besides, if all hell breaks loose (ie: Motor Grenade) put stock gears back in and head to the dealer.

But what if you buy the gears from ford, i heard if you buy all SVT parts, you kinda get away with it.

If you install Genuine Ford parts, it won't void your warranty. here is the catch you need to have them installed by a Ford service tech...or so my cousin told my...he is a ford mech

Still depends on the dealer, no matter what parts you have.Some are asses, some aren't.I would put them in and not worry about it.

It never makes sense for the dealer to care since they get the warranty money back even at a lower work $ rate but the mechanics hate it dipping in the wallet since they get 1/3 compared to a regular work order.

They might even go so far as to void warranty work on your tranny.

As stated before, depends on the dealership. If you have a good relationship with your dealer then dont worry about it.

Personaly, I'm having mine put in by my dealer, that way if they screw something up, they're responsible for the work. But if the part I put in causes the problem, I'm at fault.

If you dont have a good relationship with your dealer, go to a shop, have it done and keep your mouth shut.

You have very little time left on your warrenty. There is no reason to have the dealer install the gears for you unless you have a ton of cash you need to waste, and want them installed wrong anyways. You have the dealer do it, your looking at over $1000 for install. You have a speed shop do it you might spend $500 total if you go with a speed cal. I would definately trust a speed shop to install something like gears before I would Ford lol. My .02c on the matter.
