I hate to tell someone they're wrong, but that calculator is wrong. I had a 3.08 ring and pinion and I revved 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. You have a 3.08. 3.27s were a special option that could be ordered in the 94-95 cars, only with AODE cars. Five-speed cars were not offered with a 3.27.
With the stock tach, it's impossible to be that accurate. You might try a different gear and higher RPM to differentiate better between the ratios.InWhatGear said:I just picked the one that was closest to 2000 rpm, but really, there is not a whole lot of difference between them.

Disagree all you want, Ford did not offer a 3.27 gear in a 5-speed car. How do you figure they were a 3.27? How many teeth were on the ring and pinion gears? In a car with T5, and a .68:1 5th gear ratio, the car is going to turn 1920 RPM @ 70 MPH (close enough to 2000), with either a 245/45/17 tire, or the standard GT 225/55/16 tire. It's common knowledge that a 5-speed car has either the standard 2.73 or the optional 3.08:1 ring and pinion. Anything else is nonsense, and you CAN take that to the bank.17yrOldStanger said:I disagree. When i opened up my rear end on my old car, the stock gears were 3.27s. Jack the rear of the car up, put a mark on the drive shaft and spin the tire one full revolution. While spinning the tire, count how many times that white mark goes around. If it goes around slightly more than three times, you have a 3.08 gear. If it goes around two and three-quarter times, you have a 2.73 gear. According to my calculations, a 245/45/17 tire and a 225/55/16 tire are only 0.06 inches different in overall height, so either tire can be used and the answers should be (pretty much) the same.
1105 said:Go out and take a look on your differential cover. There will be a little plate held on by one of the bolts and will give you a gear ratio. For example, mine says 2L73 meaning my car came with 2.73's stock.
