Hey guys and gals,
i have a question for you concerning burnouts. I heard there is an article in Hot Rod this month and they stated that you cannot do a brake torque because of some program in the computer. they also said (or so I heard) that they had major wheel hop when they ran it at the drag strip. Can any of you verify this for me? I am just curious. thanks!

Haven't been to the strip yet but have done a few burnouts with no wheel hop.

I will have to read that article in Hot Rod. have any of you tried applying the brakes while burning out to get a nice smokey burnout?

Done a few burnouts without incident in the 570 miles or so that I've owned my 05 auto GT. I haven't done a huge smokey burnout, but enough to leave some nice patches.

my high-tech Steps:
Disable traction control, apply left foot to brake, apply right foot to accelerator. Press down.

Not only that, I am very impressed with the automatic's ability to light 'em up from a roll or a dead stop without the aid of the brakes.

i saw a ford guy here in detroit do a super smokey burnout. I don't think that burnouts are a problem on the 05!

I did a nice smokey burnout at the track a few weeks back and covered the car with smoke while holding the brake. GT 5 speed. I did have some bad wheel hop on one pass when wheels didn't hook up. Only problem was getting the rubber off the lower panels the next day

COOL!
I was worried about that when I heard about that article in Hot Rod (I haven't read it yet) but I figured Ford knows that is one of the reasons people buy Mustangs.
