question from a non SVO owner

how did the SVOs compare to the 5.0s power-wise, like back in the day if an SVO raced a 5.0 , both stock, who would win or how close would it be? i have heard that SVOs are pretty fast cars. i have always wanted to drive one but never had the chance. thanks

85.5 and 86 the svo and GT were basically the same power wise, in 87 the gt was up to like 225 or so.

weren't the SVOs quicker 1/4 mile wise? Would the weight difference make up for some of that 20hp difference?

The SVO wasn't a drag car, it was built to handle. An SVO would out-handle any 5.0 car of comparable or even nearby years....would probably rival or beat today's Stangs, barring the '05.

Yea, SVOs were capable of a 15.something 1/4, I love the chit outa mine...

I think the fastest "magazine" time for an SVO was 15.0 at like 89mph.

I've heard of guys going 14.7 or so with stock SVO's.

The beauty of them is the ability to raise it ~30-40hp with about 80 bucks.
