I have a 67 ranchero with a great running 289. Has performer edelbrock intake and 500 cfm edelbrock car and long tube headers. 3-speed top loader and 3.25 ratio in rear. I have a full howards cam kit I am excited to put on, nothing crazy with the cam, fairly mild. My question is; I have been told i should purchase new aluminum heads when doing this but how true is this. Can i benefit from keeping stock heads and go forth with the cam kit? I really cant afford aluminum heads and can barely afford to have the kit installed at this point but i am really wanting to do it before winter hits in a few months. Thought? thanks guys.
