I was replacing head gaskets and when I was cleaning the surface of the passenger side I noticed some little divits, I looked closer at it and the cylinder it came off(#4) and the piston had a little something stuck to it, it came right off. The cylinder wall also had a slight line in it, i could barely feel it with my finger nail, do you think this will be ok to put the heads back on??? Or do I need to tear it down???? Thanks Bryce

As long as the cylinder wall isnt scratched or the top of the piston isnt cracked, you should be fine. Only thing it will do is lower the compression .0000000000000001psi

Yeah, but if the gouge is too big, the compression might get below the rings and lose compression altogether, well, sorta...
I guess you'll have to use your own judgement. I'm sure it will run, and prolly not be too much a problem, but you may want to look into a stroker kit or something and just bore it .030 over

Be sure that 'scratch' you are looking at isn't the hatch marks in the casting of the block. A 'scratch' wouldn't be good, a hash mark is excellent.

It is definately not cross hatch, I can see those, this seems to run from the top of cylinder wall straight down the wall... Bryce

Take some pictures with a HIGH DEFINITION camera! That should give us a better perspective. Borrow the camera if need be!
