Question on wrapping headers...

I just bought some longtubes and they're chrome BBK's. However they do have a small amount of rust on them, because they were used for 1000 miles. Is there a way I could totally strip them of the chrome and the rust, so that I could paint them with high temp paint and then wrap them? Is there a way to leave the chrome on there and paint over it or would it not adhere? What should I do basically.

Is this a 1/4 mile only car? I have read that header wrap is quite bad for a DD. The headers will be completely shot in no time. Run some searches on header wrap and I'm sure you'll see plenty on this.

ok so I see what you mean. What else can I do to get rid of this rust?

Maybe you could take them to a paint shop? Or send them somewhere for the jet hot coating.
