I am installing these headers RIGHT NOW. While the instructions make it seem fairly simple to do, hooking the EGR Valve back up was a PAIN IN THE ASS. And now that it's hooked up it is hitting against the firewall so now I can't get the headers in the right place to bolt them up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is just the first of many, many, many problems you will have with replacing the entire exhaust. Eventually you may get it all straightened out but you check engine light will always come on and your wallet will be a lot thinnier.

Shoulda just done a catback in my humble opinion... :)

If it didn't have problems it wouldn't be a Ford ;) lol j/p

Only a cat-back.. wheres the fun in that??

we took a break from the driver's side lt for now and moved to the passenger side. The fit is MUCH tighter there and it was easier to put on than the driver's side where there's more room  lol go figure. I'm sad because I wanted it done today and we're waiting for a guy we know to help us in the morning. But we are gonna get everything ready so all that will be left is to bolt that header, replace the steering, bolt in any motor mounts, and connect it to the x-pipe.

and yeah.. I definately think it's going to be worth it. I've posted on several forums before I bought the LTs and so many people replied and told me they decided against them because of the install. that's part of the reason i like having them, I dunno about a single stang in my area with them :)

Well good luck getting it installed tomorrow, I am really looking forward to hearing about your results. You should definetly gets some clips and dyno numbers too. I have been thinking about getting the headers and x for a long time but nobody has ever said much about them.

I'll have sound clips definately! I'm making a video about the whole installation with before and after clips. It will be done tomorrow night as long as we finish the exhaust :) I won't be able to get dyno numbers for awhile, I live no where close to anything except a dynojet (it's still 2 hours away) and I don't think I wanna go there. I will eventually though :D

I'd just like to say I dropped the k-member and the install went VERY EASY! :D
are you saying the install was a PITA, and then after dropping the k-member it went smoother? i've got the slp lt's on the way, so i may ask you for some pointers. me and three of my buddies will be taking on the task. we're all pretty experienced aircraft mechanics, but none of us have any experience working on a 2 valve 4.6, except for me installing the slp loudmouth cat-back, which was very easy. anyway, are you done with it yet? how does it sound? and what did you do about the egr valve rubbing the firewall?

well this is what happened... we followed the directions SLP sent and it went great. We removed the H pipe and the manifolds, removed the starter, removed the steering colum and pushed it out of the way, and had the EGR tube hanging. We started to bolt up the driver side header first. My problem with the EGR tube may have been caused by the fact that my intake spacer has raised it up a little. But other people have complained about that damn thing too. We screwed on the EGR tube first because it won't reach if you bolt the header first. Once we screwed it on we couldn't move the header into the right position to bolt it on. We messed with it for a couple of hours and took a break. We decided to move to the passenger side headers. That side is much more tight so at first it was hard to get the header pushed up there. But once we did we started screwing in a few bolts and noticed there was a couple that we had no way of reaching. So today we decided we were just going to drop the K-member. After dropping it putting the headers on was VERY easy! We had to bend one of our tools to reach one of the bolts on the headers, but other than that it went great! The was so much more room to work with. I wouldn't even try to do it any other way, just straight up drop the k-member.. you'll be very thankful you did. I've got the headers installed right now and the k-member back into place. We've been working on putting the dipstick casing back in (we forgot to do it before we but the k-member back up). I have to install my SLP O/R X-pipe and Steeda cat-back and then we'll be done :D I'm gonig to post a video as soon as we're finished. Feel free to pm/email me any questions you have with your install.

thanks for the info man. i'll definitely be in touch with you down the road. heres a quick question. were you able to re-use the stock gaskets or did you have to get new ones?

SLP sends you two gaskets to use. we decided to use them because the stock ones would have to be cut in order to use. and since they were already flat and thin we figured we'd use the slp ones that are still thick and are unused. we actually broke one of the gaskets when we were trying to install the driver side header and having problems witht he egr tube before we dropped the k-member. good thing autozone carries one almost exactly like the one slp ships.

3 choices. Evensville, Bowling Green, or Nashville. I have seached and these are the ones I found around here. I would like to go to Bowling Green since its less of a travel problem because I know a easy way to get there. But the only place I found there was Holley Performance and I don't know if they let people come in and use their dyno.

the one in evansville is a dynojet (if we're talking about the same one). I didn't know there was one in BG though, I'll be at beach bend soon so I'm gonna have to check that out.

Yep, the only one I know of. Here is the link to their website.

When does Beech Bend open for people like us, I have been wanting to go but I am not sure of there times.
