I was browsing in my local autozone the other day and saw some led lights with the ends to fit the original 1157 light sockets. Has anyone else used these? Will they melt my lenses? Also they said you would require some kind of odd flasher for the signals to work (can't remember what they were called). The package said that most cars were already equiped with the required flahers. They look like new items so I am assuming that neither one of my 67's will have the right flashers. Anyone have any info on this?

I wouldn't get them. The LED is bright, but it's too small, and the light is so focused it doesn't light up the lens hardly at all. Also because the light only aims outward from the bulb no light is reflected from the housing outward either. My stock bulbs are much brighter. I have two LED sitting on my shelf collecting dust. Maybe next swap meet I'll unload them. They probably work much better, on a more transparent lens, but would still be a small light.

I agree complely.

If you only use one LED, you get consetrated light which does not reflect the housing like it was designed, and you get less light. If you get an array of LEDs, Which i believe are sold, the light is evenly spread out and you get a very bright light,

One no, Many yes.

NPD has led conversion kits that just plug in and I believe are sequencial, they have something like 3 groups of 68 for a total of 204 leds per side and that would be more than enough to light up a tail light. You'll have to call and get a price 1-800-521-6104
