I was debating on getting an x pipe and headers for my car. 2000 Mustang GT 5 speed. X pipes with no cats seems they would be nice as far as sound, and they don't have cats to be restrictive. But I was wondering if these would be obnoxiously loud or do they sound good. Also headers, could I get some opinions on which to go with, shorties or long tube headers, and what is the difference in them. Thanks

LTs are the only way to go with headers. dont waste your time/money with shorties. with the LTs, your idle volume will be softer, but at WOT it will sound insane.

as far as the xpipe, i have an o/rxpipe and 40 series Flows on my GT and its my daily driver. Very easy to control how loud it is. I could easily stand for it to be louder actually  what mufflers you running or want to run?

ive got a bbk x, with american thunder catback. its louder then other cars that have the same x and just have 40 series flows welded in. the catback dose seem to make it louder. probally from the step up to 2.5 inch pipein.

and im with the dude above me, dont waste money/time on shorties. id just keep stock manifolds if i were you, unless you wanna get some long tubes.

as for sound, you could make it either loud, or somwhat quiet. the mufflers are what makes you noise.

differnce between short and long. short sux. you dont get much tourque out of them downlow, where as with long's you do. also, longs make more power up high, where as i guess the shorties also make more power then stock, but id pop for the long tubes. long tubes are badassed. and they'll give you a better sound too.
