i am putting a 92 "roller" back together and need to know if the coil needs what i want to call a Condenser but it may have another "correct" name. it is the round cylinder that mounts with the coil. i see the 94-95 uses one and the van i got my motor from (88) uses one but does a 88-93 fox need one? i tried to look one up on autozones web site but had no luck. thanks

No condenser in the EFI 5.0's ignition system...

Some audio fanatics might add a condenser on the ignition switch side of the ignition coil (red/lt green wire) to filter out some of the electrical interference, but the ignition system itself does not use a separate external condenser

See the following website for some help from Tmoss (diagram designer) & Stang&2Birds (website host) for help on 88-95 wiring Mustang FAQ - Wiring & Engine Info Everyone should bookmark this site.

Ignition condensers are used on the older points type ignition systems mostly phased out in the mid 70's. What you are probably seeing in the 94-95 is the RFI filter capacitor.

We have the same idea. What you are seeing is used to filter out the electrical noise to prevent Snap, Crackle and Pop from making their musical debut in your car audio system...
