Quick Granada swap Q...

Ok, I just NOW have the time to do my Granada disk brake swap I bought well over 6 months ago. Anyways, is this something I can build on the work bench then hang on the car or is it an assemble on the car type thing. Obviously the MC and lines are done on the car.

Also, what is the normal assembly time on this type of thing? I've done disk swaps but not like this style. I have at least 4 full days to work on it.
 
I did mine by building on the car, which I am pretty sure is the correct way to do it. (I've never seen it done the other way???) I did all new brake lines, so that took some time. Keep in mind that the Granada brake lines from the brake caliper faces forward so you will need to flip/rebend the hard line to face the front of the car. Mine kinked when I tried it so I just pulled them and ran new lines.

Advice- Bench bleed the M/C after you have completed the mock up and getting everything together. I made the mistake of doing it before I got everything bent correctly and had to redo the bench bleeding anyway. It is a couple of extra steps but will save you time in the long run. Good luck, it is a pretty easy swap overall.
 
I did mine on the car. I did them plus the lower control arm/ball joint and the upper ball joint in one day. This was when my car was a daily driver and my only car so I had to do it in the one day I had off. It really no big deal if you have all the correct parts and tools on hand.

You can do that, but I don't see the advantage. The assembly weighs nearly 50 lbs. Besides, the mounted spindle is a good steady assembly platform.

My customers tell me it takes a weekend to do, most of that on the first side. Be careful not to contaminate the pads and rotor with bearing grease. Most certainly spray the rotor and pads with brake cleaner right before mounting the caliper/pad assembly. As said above, bench bleed the MC. Unless you have experience and decent flaring tools use the preflared brake lines with fittings available from auto parts stores. Mock the lines using wire. Use up extra length in the premade lines with loops or extra bends. Don't brake real hard for the first 50 miles.

Sweet, thanks guys. I plan to tear into it in the morning. I hope I can get it done this weekend. I'm super meticulous about these things. I already went through everything and painted them. I'll post some pics while I go.
 
I assembled mine on the bench

and then hung it on the car, used a jack to push the lower arm up to meet the upper, it was easy and I didnt spend a bunch of time bent over in the fenderwell assembling things. I replaced everything, LCA, UCA, coil springs, shocks, entire front end parts, pitman arms, and did the shelby drop, everything in one long day, bout 8 hours probably.

Its easy, just lots of nuts and bolts.
 
I've done it both ways. Lugging around 50 lbs of metal and try to line up ball joints can be a p.i.t.a. but I prefer to assemble it first so I'm not bent over under the car for any peroid of time. Just have to boly up ball joints and tie rods. Be carefull with the tie rods, myself and a few others have had to shorten the inner and outer tie rods to get enough adjustmnet for setting toe.
 
Made some progress. I got the brakes assembled, bought new lower control arms and painted them, and I also took all the old brakes off with the exception of the MC. I took off the old stuff at the upper ball joint and where the lower a-arm mounts to the frame. What a breeze. Super easy stuff. Still waiting on the blasted paint to cure on the control arms so I'm at a stand still. Plus I'm taking my wife out to dinner so that is where I ended. So, car in the air, no front brakes/suspension, new stuff ready to go on.
