I just finished putting an off-road H-pipe on my 94 GT. I read on some forum or another that i should diconnect by battery for 30 minutes, so the computer can learn that its running with out cats.

Is this necessary or can it relearn it while I'm driving around enjoying the sound?

i dont think that the computer has to relearn anything. The 02s are located before the cats, not after so the readings would be the same. I just hopped up in the car and started checking for exhaust leaks right when i got done.

correct, if the 02's were behind the cats then it might matter. The computer has no idea on weather your running cats or not b/c the exhuast that the 02's sample are before the coveters anyway.
