QUICK HELP..cant reattach steering column!!

Ok, finished installing new rack bushings, now I cant get the rag joint to slide back over rack input...the column will slide onto the tip of the input, but it just wont settle into it. I know its not fully settled because there MIGHT be only a 1/4 inch of insertion. Hope someone has a suggestion! Thanks, Im gonna go play with it somemore! check back soon...

I have been where you are at and I would caution you to take your time and think this out. The lock bolt and the other parts are soft metal you will really **** yourself if you do not proceed with caution.

Go back out there and look very closely at the parts and see how it goes together. Also the piece connected to the wheel slides in/out to give you the movement you need to engage.

Whatever you do, DO NOT STRIP THE LOCK BOLT.

Good luck man, take your time use bright light and see how it goes together.

Got it! WoOW that mustve been the most frustrating job I have ever done. I actually unlocked the steering wheel, this enabled me to lign it up correctly. GLAD ITS DONE. Thanks for the positive response TROUT!
