Quick help with Gauge install wiring

Ok, I hooked my gauge light up to the light for the heater/fan controls above the radio. So the gauge lights will come on when I turn my headlights on. My question is this. On the back of the gauge, the terminal that says "to ignition switch".... where to I connect this to? Does this connect directly to the battery like my stereo amp is wired? Or do I connect it to an empty fuse terminal in the fuse box? I'm a little confused about the ignition wire, and the wire they say to connect to a 12v source that comes on with ignition only.

To a fuse terminal that has no power when off and power when on.

Yup. You want it hooked to something that gets power only when the ignition is in the "run" position.

I found that there is already a power wire with a fuse hooked into fuse terminal 12, which is an unused terminal. If I wire the gauges up to this will it work? I assume if I hook it up here it will have power to it when the ignition is on, but once I shut the car down it wont? Also, for the engine ground, can I just connect that to the inside of the fender where the small wire from the negative battery cable is bolted to?

Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you. Get the ol test light out and check for voltage when on and off. For the ground just find a screw on the body and use that. It's much easier.

I assume I can use the same power supply for both gauges? Or do I have to have separate wires for each? I can just connect the two wires for the gauges and connect them to the fuse panel right?

most folks run one 'source' wire (i.e. your wire that is key-on hot from the fuse box). you can run the wire to the first gauge and then piggyback off the connection there to run a short wire to the second gauge (and so on). i think you are asking if you need a dedicated wire for each gauge, and the answer is (in most cases) no.
