I just changed my spark plugs in hopes that would help with my idle issue, but to no help. My car has been starting and then dying shortly after, but after it runs a little, it is alright. Yet the idle still seems to go down to like 700 when i go stop or let it sit for a minute. I was thinking it was the timing, but i do not have a timing light. Could anyone tell me how to play with the timing by moving the distributor? Do I just turn the distributor after loosening the verticle bolt just to the front of the car, driver side and turn it? Also what do I do with the sprout connector? and is the sprout connector the connector that is just below the cap on the pole part of the distributor? Any help ASAP would be great, and also any diagrams or anything else would help a lot. Thanks in advance

There is no way you can get the timing set correctly without a timing light. You might get close, but it is highly unlikely. You will either have to buy or borrow a timing light or have the timing set by someone who has a timing light

Based upon the limited info, it sounds like the IAC is not working right (might be dirty or toast) and/or the idle is not set right.

Good luck.

get a can of throttle body cleaner, clean your MAF, your TPS your IAC, and the throttle body itself. It may just solve it.
