quick q on Fuel line connector removal tool

I'm changing Fuel filter today, and i need to go get fuel line disconnect tools. they have two different size removal tool. one is 3/8, and other is 5/16. which one do i need?

grrrrr someone appearentlly changed Fuel Filterbefor, butdidn't use proper tool to remove the connector! engine side of connector pin inside of flear is all acrewed up. I had to cut the rubber line to get the darn thing out!!!!

that sucks. were you able to get the fuel filter disconnected after cutting the fuel line off?? need more details.

ya i cut the line off(which was not easy due to location, and fact Ford OEM rubber gas line has hard plastic inner liner, and then i cut the filter nipple off, and use fine point needle to push pin off. what should have takin me 20moin now taking over 2hours...
