well after scratching my head as to why my speedo still didn';t work after replacing the cable, I finally pulled the whole gear out...well needless to say the topo part broke off and there is a crack running down the whole thing. anyway, I cant seem to find it at the local places like autozone and such, so I'm probably gonna have to order it. question is, can I just take the gear off so it won't break into any more pieces? I don't have any idea where the other pieces went to...hopefully they won't do anything bad (they're only plastic after all), but I don't want any more pieces coming off. I would assume its safe to take the gear off and just replace the rest of the unit...am I right? thanks guys
