Ok please save your bashing because I know my current set up is wrong, it is being addressed now. My car came with an electric fan and the PO had it wired directly to a toggle, yeah, no relay or anything. So anyway it's worked like this for a year with no problems...until yesterday. I have a mechanical temp gauge and noticed yesterday while driving it was not cooling properly so I pulled over and checked the fan and it wasn't working. Luckily it's a straight shot home down the highway so driving temps kept it cool enough.
So on to the questions. I'm going to get the dccontrol unit and have read about wait times of 2,3,4 weeks to get it and in a more recent thread I read that they are produced on more of an assmely line now. Has the turn time on these been reduced? Reason being this is my DD and I need something fairly quick which leads to my other question.
I re-wired the original toggle to use the ground for the switch instead of the hot. The hot lead is fused at 30a and runs from the battery and I am just using the toggle to interrupt the ground essentially. Do you think I could get by with this set up until the fan controller arrives? Maybe go buy a 30a relay to help out in the meantime?
