That statement about not being able to switch back is a huge myth! All current ILSAC/API oils are compatible with each other allowing anyone to use a synthetic oil or semi-synthetic and switch back to conventional or vice-versa without any negative performance or effects. It is also a myth that synthetic oils cause leaks. This is not true. Synthetic oils however will make previous leaks more noticeable
