Quick Timing Question..

Do you guys think I would be good running my timing at 16? It is at 14 right now and I am running 93 octane, I have an MSD 6AL and a Blaster two coil. I dont think I am getting any pinging or anything but it is hard to tell cuz I don't know exactly what I am listening for. All I hear is a chugging sound, but I think it is an exhaust leak, or the sound of my intake sucking all that air in.

Do you think setting it at 16 will be alright for a daily driven street car? Thanks for any advice

Personally, I don't think 16 is too high for an aluminum headed car with stock 9.2 compression. I run 16 and have for the past couple of years, trying 14 occasionally. Now, for an iron headed car, I wouldn't try it... It's not going to make that much difference anyway.

And as far as pinging goes, if you want to find out what it is, set your timing to 16 and fill up with 87 octane... Did that by accident once. It sounds like a kind of metalling pinging sound, hence the name...
