The arrow is the direction of fuel travel,

So this filter would have the arrow going towards the engine,

Theres a pipe coming out of the tank, TO the filter, DONT put the arrow facing this,

Then theres a huge pipe going to the front of the car,
This is the one the arrow points to,

Hope all goes well

Well...this is a cheap FRAM filter from Walmart...and their are two sides of the filter...(it has different type of instructions on the filter than does the original motorcraft filter)...Their are two different ends to the filter of course and on one side (cone shaped side) says "IN" and has a few arrows pointing into the opening...and the other side (flat side) has nothing. So I took a guess and "guessed" that "IN" meant where the fuel goes in which would be the HOSE COMING FROM THE TANK...so I put it in this way and started it up and all seemed well...I didnt' hear or see anything out of the ordinary...

What will it do if it is put in backwards...????

Any help appreciated...or FRAM fuel filter users...

Thanks for easying my concious(sp?)

I figured the "IN" meant where the fuel goes in...lol...but I always doubt myself...

So what would happen if the filter is put in backwards...
