A few days ago I posted a thread on the FRPP C/B and got some good info/feedback.

Well Ive been doing some research on the Flowmaster Force II C/B and have a few question on it.

Im looking for something quieter then the Flowmaster 40's I have now. With my o/r h-pipe it gets pretty loud. I still want a good muscle car sound just not the annoying interior drone.

They offer 2 kits, One SS the other is not. Are they factory tips SS?
Im looking to get by as cheap as possable and the SS kit is a little more but I don't want rusted tips either.
And I did a search and didnt find what I was looking for..

Does anyone here use the Force II or flowmaster 50 series mufflers?
How loud is the interior sound and drone?
How does it sound on the outside of the car?

I've never seen, heard, owned, or ridden in any car with a chamber style exhuast that did not have some drone to it. Just the rpm at which it occurs tends to vary.
A Prochamber would quiet it down some but alas they too have a slight drone to them too.

If you really want to go cheap, do what I did and have some Magnaflows or whatever's welded in to your existing cat-back. The car is now much quieter with a low rumble and I didn't have to buy a new cat-back.

Thats what I have now, weld-in 40's. But looks like the previous owner got one of the tailpipes repaired, and the repair job is leaking. They catback is in bad shape so Im gonna replace it all.

i know this may or may not be an option, but my SLP loudmouth 2's are actually pretty damn quiet for a performance exhaust... i hav e a catted x pipe though, but i was really suprised... they sound good, nice deep rumble, but no drone and not obnoxiously loud eather.

Im my opinion you should go with some regular magnaflow mufflers with dumps and get rid of the ugly tailpipes. I have never liked tailpipes on our year car, I think it looks cleaner without them.

Same, I had the 40 series flowmasters which were rusting out which made the drone even worse. I was sounding like the 4x4 trucks that we have running around our neck of the woods (I live in Hardin) but I then got some magnaflow mufflers put on and the car is quiet now. At first I missed being super loud and getting attention when passing places, but now I love the quietened car so I get to listen to all the squeaks and rattles that I have

Seriously though, the magnaflows quietened the car majorly and I can have people ride with me and hold a conversation in the car without having to speak up now.

Magnaflow's are out of my buget right now. And I have to get my car inspected before the end of August. You know how strict Harris co. and sorounding counties( Im in Montgomery co.) are now. That and the smell is getting worst. The pipe that is rusting away is the pipe between the h-pipe and muffler on the right side.

And yeah, my car does sound like a 4x4. now Im tired of that sound. All I need now is the "Git R Done" sticker on the back window and I would fit right in around here...

I want something that is cheap, quieter, but still sound good on the outside. Cheap being most important right now. Thats why Im down to my 2 choices the FRPP or the flowmaster force II.

Thanks for the replys, keep'em coming..:SNSign:

So you are looking for an entire cat-back, not just the mufflers? I don't believe i've heard any FRPP c/bs before

How exactly are you planning to pass with the o/r H pipe? They did a visual inspection on me last year, and im up for another inspection this month actually

I paid $216.50 for the two magnaflow mufflers+install so it wasn't all that bad

Yeah FRPP makes a c/b, doesnt look bad at all, heres a link...

As for passing the visual, I hoping to get by without having to put my old h-pipe back on for test. I deal with shops all day, Im a wholesale parts guy. So I hope I can just get by with the o/r on.
I have MIL's so I should pass the test.

If you want quiet, don't get a Flowmaster Cat-Back.

I've got a Flow Am. Thunder cat-back and BBK O/R H and it's loud. But I love it! No drone with the 4.10's either.

Force II not quite as loud as Am Thunder, but it's still loud.

The Borla Pro-XS mufflers I got are known for making power while not being loud. If you want the full catback, many have said the Steeda catback uses the Borla Pro-XS mufflers. They sound great with my H.

You should consider the Dynomax Superturbo's
because they are not so, loud and still have a
nice sound and tone to them.

I had 50 series flow and 40 series flows on my chevelle. I think most people would find the 50 series stuff livable.

there is a HUGE difference in sound and drone. I don't htink it will be as mellow as the FRPP catback but the FRPP catback does not do much for me sound wise.

Thanks for the info guys!

I think Im gonna go with the Flowmaster Force II c/b. It should cut some of the interior drone out, and still sound good.

why don't you just get magnaflow(not pack. they are obnoxious imo). when i had a magnaflow catback with Prochamber, it was very nice and mellow at the highway speed. little louder then stock. no drone whatssoever.
But when u punch it(past 3000RPM), it gets very nicely vocal. but was never obnoxious.
I'm sure you don't want Lexus quite right? just little more civil?
I have Flowmaster catback(not 40's. i don't know what it is. I think its 80's?) on my transam, and tho not as loud as 40's, still loud enough for me to not like it, and no matter what they say, these drone like crazy at highway speed.

I think replacing flowmaster 40 for another flowmaster(whatever it might be) is like replacing Camaro for Transam. Looks different, but still same crop
