Maybe not tech here, but I really want a quite muffler on my car. Right now I have mac pro dumps with an o/r h pipe. Now the catch is I want to keep the mid pipe thats on the car. What muffler out there is really tame sounding?

Well with a o/r h pipe, nothing is going to be really really quiet.

Maybe try the Flowmaster Force IIs, they aren't supposedly as loud.

I have a complete magnaflow system on my car and although it's quite at idle and cruise, it's still pretty loud under moderate and full throttle acceleration. Borla XL mufflers are probably about the quietest you're going to find.

Thats what I have found so far. My bias agaist magnaflows are leading me towards the dynomax. I may have to eat my words though lol.

Do you have any sound clips of your magna flows? Do you know where I can find some clips of the borla?

Not a Mustang, but keep in mind this is through 3-mufflers and two high flow cats. A little tough to hear over the blower when you're in front of the car, but you get the idea at idle in the fist video and after half track in the second.

I'm not sure off hand where there are any sound clips of the Borla set up, but unlike other mufflers absolutely EVERYONE i've ever heard talk about the Borla systems has the same opinion. Just slightly lounder than stock.

Yes

No cats really does increase the db levels :Word:

I got an OEM catback and it is W A Y more louder since I went to the sig combo
so
Said that to show more power behind any muffler is gonna make more noise

btw ... before the sig combo I had ported E7's and a few bolt ons
but
I did have cats and the same catback

I knew the increased power would increase the db level
but
I was in no way expecting the amount it did increase

yeah I thought that there was a sticky on this topic. I think the magnaflow will be the quietest and best sounding IMO. I love my setup.

Dyno max SUPER TURBO is not on the list. They are MUCH quieter than ultra. They are THE QUIETEST and you keep your HP.

I used to have the Borla XR-1's on my cobra and with an offroad x-pipe you had to get the car over 3500 RPM's to actually hear the car. They got a lil louder when I added the prochamber, but still very quiet none the less. I sold my set of them a few years back. Seems weird I went from that quiet system to now having the prochamber still and adding SLP Loudmouth I system which is now hacked into turndowns and the car literally wakes up the entire neighborhood.

I don't understand why you want to limit yourself to keeping the current midpipe. Why not just get some high flow cats? That will quiet it up nicely and cost about the same as a new cat-back setup.

I think a 1993 Escort station wagon would be quieter on the exhaust end of things ;-) It's actually a great little car...

But seriously +1 on the high flow cats. You could even have some welded in to your current setup, which is a cheap option if you can weld or know someone who can. Pypes sells them individually as do others I'm sure w/the correct inlet/outlet diameters.

These are what I am looking at. Pretty sure this is what I will go with.

I had slp LM1 dumped on the car before. Got to where I hated it. I also have slp LM1 on my 02 gt. Loud as sin.

Weld in mufflers will be cheaper then cats.

I don't want to hack up a mid pipe. If I was to put cats back on the car I would just use my factory mid pipe.

The OEM mid pipe has got to be a bunch more restrictive than an after
market catted high flow mid pipe
