Raced a Hertz shelby gt today.

I inquired about renting one and was told that in order to get one i would need to be flying into the airport in which the SHelby is based out of.

What a crock. I want to drive one :(

Yeah I know...how's your car coming along. Cant wait for these da_n tracks to open up. Ive heard rumors about one opening by years end. Same track, but improved and under new management. Maybe we can go at it...bunch of P.O's are wanting to race their cars lately.

Coming along ok. My HID's should be in next week or so, so I'm looking forward to installing them.

I put on some 03' Cobra sideskirts a month or so ago. Made a huge difference in the looks, and came painted too:nice:

Other than that, just working on cleaning up the paint with my porter cable and keeping it clean.

How much did the HID's set u back? Spening money on these cars or any car for that matter is a never ending story.

Traction Control Fun

the Hertz cars have traction control permenantly turned on. That ruined it for me, well that and $169 per day for a mustang.

Elsewhere in this forum I see information to disable the anti-lock brakes to shut off TCH. NOT GOOD PEOPLE! If you want traction control off (and who doesn't?!!), then don't do anything silly like pulling any modules out to disable anti-lock brakes!!! You're renting a high performance car and you might do something like tamper with a really nice, really safe brake system? Are you nuts?

The quickest way around a corner for a rear wheel drive car is a controlled drift, and you can't do that without spinning the rear tires, and you can't do that with traction control ON! The answer is in the blog posted below. It takes less than a minute to restore the car to the way it was made by the Ford factory. Hertz/Shelby didn't "bypass" anything. They simply made it so the switch can't be pushed. Find out how to restore the off switch function here. It's undetectable, and easily reversable. Anyone can undo the "block" after they rent it and restore the "block" before they turn it in. Hertz and Shelby are really really not thinking if they think saving some tire wear is worth risking the effort stupid people put into trying to make the damn thing work the way it was built, and so they get people tampering with the brakes!!

Here's the blog that sets it straight:

$275.00 for the GP earlier last month.

I also been working a lot to save up for the rear brake upgrade. Just gonna get the solid 11" Cobra rotor and Bullitt caliper upgrade. Rear looks stupid silver and with a smaller rotor than the fronts. I considered going with the matching Brembo for the rear, but the price would go up crazy....too crazy to justify for the rear, which don't really do much in the first place. I can settle for the solid rotor in the back.
