On my 97 Gt here I'm starting to lose power steering fluid and it seems to be coming outta the rack into the inner tie rods boots. Can you just replace the seals or do you have to do the whole rack???

Also is there an upgrade going to a different rack that would work for the vehicle at all??

I've got the same problem.

You're better off just getting a new rack and pinion.

Replacing the seals inside is a PITA.

i did front end work for a living and it is a lot easier to just put in a new rack. you can pick up a reman one for pretty cheap. you will just have top give them your old one. the one in my car is a reman, but i dont think it is a good one and will be changing it out with a Ford OEM one.

on a lift it took me about 30 mins to do a rack on a mustang, on jackstands it was maybe 45 mins. just remember to properly bleed the system when finished.

yea its easy i did it on my old 91, i bought rack and pinion at autozone for like 100$, if i remember correctly you can get the flaming river one which has a tighter turning ratio for like 175$....

Anyway it took me like 2 hours but it was my first time to do it
