Has anyone installed an update sound system in a 70 Mach 1? What sort of challenges am I facing, and are there any instructions to the install? I am looking at a RetroSound system.
Thanks, Slid

it's been some time since i have worked in the radio area on my 69,but i know it's prety tight fitting aftermarket radios. there will be some trimming of the plastic pieces surrounding the radio. i think mustangs unlimited has a change over bracket for upgrading your radio .

Thanks for the information, I bought a RetroSound radio, (much smaller radio than the one in the dash), looking for a simple way, (if there is), to installing without removing to front of dash and part of the console due to additional gauges installeed there. Thanks again!! Slid

If you are a gymnast with really tiny hands, you might be able to change out the radio without removing the dash pad. Otherwise, taking off the dash pad isn't difficult at all. There are tons of resources online with instructions. Also, you should be able to remove the pad without having to mess with the gauges. For heavens sake don't cut the bezel! As horse sence said, you can find a part to help with the conversion. I think Mustang Monthly has some pics on removing the dash pad. In my 69, I was able to remove the dash pad and change the stereo and I didn't have to touch any of the gauge clusters. I did remove the panel for the clock and repair the clock. It works! For now....

Thanks for the update and information!!! I was able with the help of my son to install a, "RetroSound", system into the existing opening and everything is working great. Would reccommend to other members for their cars. Slid
