Radio problem antenna, if you have ever changed your radio get in here

Well seeing as the old post got deleted and I still have this problem I have to make a new post. Well I narrowed down my stereo problem to the antenna going into the radio. I took out the radio and I did not know the antenna cable unscrews into 2 parts so i pulled it out of the back of the radio. Now it seems I have broken the copper wire that connects into the radio. What can I do? How can i reconnect the antenna into the radio if there is still a piece of a wire in there? It wont come out. Please someone help my radio is sitting next to me at the moment and I have to fix this problem before my dad gets back from vacation on saturday. DO they sell just the antenna wire that connects the radio and outside antenna together? I cant find it anywhere.

Well enough of the badgering, please help me, any knowledge about this antenna cable would be useful

That happened on one of my old daily drivers...I just stripped the sheathing back and butt connected the copper wire back together. It's very delicate though. Perhaps you can sauder it back together as well depending if you can get a gun in there or not.

Yea it is going to be very hard to do, the space is really small, i dont know if a gun could fit in there. I just don't understand how people can take out there stock radios without busting this cable because it seems like it is one piece with the radio. If I was to go the aftermarket radio route, that would require splicing the harness wires to install right? Damn I wish I could go back in time and never have put that damn shorty antenna on.

during my aftermarket install, i did have to splice the new wiring harness into the exisiting one

Is this what the antenna plug that plugs into the stock radio looks like? If it is maybe I broke off the nipple end and it still inside the radio cuz mine isnt like that. Anyone who took out there antenna plug is this what the plug looks like?

Yep, that's what the connector to the reciver should look like. Now it's been a while since I installed my radio, but I'm not sure what you mean by the wire unscrews in two parts, but mine pulled out of the stock head unit very easy.

if you pull your glove box you will find a connector there, disconect it, remove the wire from there to the radio, take it to an install shop, or best buy, or whatever, and have them resolder on an end, $5.

Problems with antenna wires, are best solved when the cable is replaced, not just soldered.

Cut open any am/fm antenna wire for a car, and see that there is variable layers of sheething and wires for the signal to transmit. I highly recommend, not even trying to solder it.

It seems there is a special ford antenna adapter for it and best buy or any local autparts doessnt sell the cable. I checked. This really sucks.

I think you have the same problem i encountered.... Ok that pic you posted... see the male part... i think that is stuck in the socket of the back of the radio, and you pulled the antenna wire outta it... if i understand correctly. Get needlenosed pliers and grab the edge of it and pull it out of the radio... it might bend a little but don't worry you can bend it back. Its a PITA to get it but get that out and you can put it back on your antenna wire.
If you go aftermarket CD player as i did and reccomend... you should call crutchfield. They have a harness that you splice into the aftermarket deck, but plugs directly into your cars harness. soo no splice and jerrry rigging you cars wires. it's like $15-$20 bucks..and well worth it, they also sell an antenna extender like that pic you posted. PM me if you need anything

Thanx for the reply, the antenna plug was stuck in there and after a half hour trying I finally pulled it out, only problem is the wire is a 1/4 inch long inside the plug so i don't think I am gonna be able to reconnect it to my cable. I called the ford dealer and they want 32 dollars for a new cable

I also know what you are talking about with the harness for aftermarket radios, I will definately get one if I go that route. Thanks again
