Radio problem

Ok so I have a 98 and the stock radio has been having problems for a while now it works perfectly in every way except the volume will go from being loud to quiet every five to ten seconds if any one knows what I need to do to fix this plz let me know

I would start by checking the connectors coming off the back of the head unit to see if any are loose or broken. Assuming the volume change happens all through the stereo system.
