Ram air or cold air intake?

maybe it is just on these motors or something, but i know for a fact that my ssd intake made a very nice improvement over stock, and I still have the stock intake tube. The kit I have basically just removes the giant air box and mounts an open air filter near the fenderwell...I've put it back to stock, re-set the computer, and it was definetely a lot slower, and didn't rev nearly as fast. For me at least, the aftermarket intake provided better then expected results.

I had the March Ram Air kit. A test was done not long ago between the CAI, stock box with a K&N, and the March kit. The March kit was the best for the 1/4 and speeds above 60mph. The big pain about it is the scoop hangs so low, you end up with leaves, small rocks, etc in the filter & box area which requires cleaning once a week. you also have the problem of scraping the scoop when going over speed bumps etc, or tearing the dam thing off.

I had it, and yanked it off,( got tired of the constant cleaning, ripped the scoop off 3 times), then went for just the CAI setup and just used heat wrap to keep the air as cool as possible (looks better and the CAI tube never gets above luke warm to the touch even on 100* days).

The Marck kit does help at higher speeds, but IMO, it isn't worth the hassels that come with it.

I have the Ram Air kit for my cervinis hood. I like it, seals up nice so no water gets through the front scoops and to the engine. I put it on sometime in November, and the filter is as clean as new. I think its kinda wrong to have a non fuctional ram air setup. Just like the fake shaker scoops that are put on lightnings.
