1989 GT Power

Hello

I purchased an 89 GT couple years ago

it’s a Density Car.
Worked out a bunch of electrical bugs with all yours helping.

basically a daily driver and fairly reliable

no real mods except Rear end clutch refresh with the extra shims for better hookup.
no more 1 wheel peel!!

anyway,
My main concern is Power …

as a kid I had another Fox LX.
Thing seemed crazy, couldn’t keep it strait.

this GT seems a lot tamer..

some info on GT.

lowered slightly with stiff suspension
(Handles way better and came this way)

Larger Wheels 17” 245/55

Edilbrock upper intake
Cold air pipe—no Mass Air (Density)

original headers/exaust

MSI Cap
Ford plugs

190psi compression all 8.

Rear Gear I believe is 3/55??

That’s it,

with that compression I would a thought she would pull harder..
I just really need to work it to break loose is Second gear…

thanks

You say you have a edelbrock upper intake so you have a matching lower???
Do you have a larger then stock throttle body?
You can replace the stock exhaust system( headers, midpipe, and cat back ) for some more power and sound.
Or you can go all in with cam, heads and the exhaust.
Power cost money, how fast do you want to spend???

First time I've heard an 89 SD EFI, so that may/may not be an issue, you need to verify the rear gear, the intake is on a stock engine? That intake prolly needs better cam and heads to work well, stock it's gonna be a dog. You'll get better lower end response with an explorer or cobra intake (think tubular, they are sooooo cool)
the Junk Pyle is an 89 GT, stock block, cam, GT40P heads and tubular intake, same gear as you and it's a sht ton of fun drive.
all that to say you need to open up the exhaust, either pick a cam and heads for the intake or another intake for the stock heads and cam.
JMO and based on my butt dyno comparison
