i was looking on here and i notice that some one said to take of the air silencer in front of my air box after some second opions i did and was pleased with the results. any way my quetsion are that the air silencers looks like if i were to mount it side ways i could make a ram air kit like ive seen for svo ( in magazine to add on i believe ) what are some good tips and in the air dam under the bumper is that a water worry?

I am having some trouble understanding this one. how is mounting a sideways silencer going to make a ram air?
the best route would be to go into the fender with a cone filter. the airdam would be way too low.

#1, the thing in front of the airbox is NOT THE AIR SILENCER. The big football looking thing in the middle of the intake between the air box and the throttle body is the silencer.

#2, I did ram air once that I built myself but I used 3" PVC pipe, with a 4"-3" elbow peeking about half under the bumper as a scoop. It worked pretty well, I did notice the car was a bit slower after I took it off, but it got the filter excessively dirty and was a pain to rig up. I don't know what you're talking about doing with the little scoop from the front of the airbox, but I doubt it's near big enough to take in the kind of air you'd need.

drill a hole in your hood, then run the cone straight through the hood. best ram air you can get. LOL.

There was a blue Civic (what else?) with the intake coming out of the hood on Ebay a while back. I'll post pictures if I can find them somewhere.

Actually aren't you referring to the Civic with the turbo sticking up through the hood?

I have the 3 inch PVC CAI on my 93 and it works great for all it is worth that is. I bogarted the K&N for my V6 though so It is sucking through a Fram paper filter right now. I used the link in the tech thread to do it.

Nah, it was a plain old CAI. Right at the end of the inlet tube there was a hole in the hood that the filter came through. It also had a piece of cover it in case of rain or anything.
