first time with my m/t et street "radials"

"mods"

electric fan
k&n
fms pullies
bbk shortys
2.5" h pipe *catted*
flowmaster mufflers
mgw shifter

tire psi was at about 15, i need some practice on the burnouts, didnt help that the water box guy didnt keep it wet , basically i'd be burning out, tires would hook, and they'd pull me out after a short spin, also in the past i'd use my e-brake just before launching to keep me from rolling out of the staging beams (not sure why the car does that ) but i snapped the cable yesterday so i had to "heel toe"

1st run

tried to launch at 3k, bogged terribly
2.11 60'
9.16 1/8th@ 77.56mph

2nd run

tried to launch a little harder
1.96 60'
9.00 1/8th @77.65

3rd run

failed miserably in the burnout
1.94 60'
8.96 1/8th @ 77.80

4th run

launched @ 4k
1.89 60'
8.94 @ 77.51

i'm happy for it being my first time out with the tires, but i know the 60' could come down a little, as can my e.t., i'm hoping to pull a 8.8 next time out, still bone stock (worn) suspension, also next time i'm going to take off my swaybar next time

any comments/suggestions are welcome, or imput as to how my car's doing, its a 88Gt, (speed density), also battery died twice at the track, running electric fan for an hour inbetween runs =

for the most part the car runs well, besides the crazy high/hanging idle, but thats another thread

sounds like a clutch cable problem that makes you roll forward , clutch is slightly engaged....you should be able to sit w/ cluth in and no brake at the staging lights.

experiment w/ tire pressure, the radials might like more air as the contact will be different than a bias-ply cheater slick.

you might try 20-25 psi

4k launch gave you the best 60' which is what counts...60' and reaction is what makes or breaks a race.

still stock geared? if your running 2.73's i just know if you can get any more than that.

looks like your on par, i don't know 1/8th times so i can't say.

but a 1.89 60' is decent for your 1st day at the track

you should be able to cut down to 1.7's

oh yea guess i forgot to add 3.73's, i know for a fact next time i could pull a 8.8, i have the fms "adjustable clutch cable" i know those are a no no, ever since i can remember i would roll out of the beams, i actually got used to holding the e-brake up before launch, i cut pretty good lights that way, from what i hear 8.9 is pretty much a 13.8-9

Nice times I love my M/T ET street radials, they hook hard. No real advice to offer that hasn't been offered, so good luck with getting that 8.8

That 1/8th mile time would convert to about a 13.95 @ 98.03 1/4 mile time....Good job

it would take some suspenson stuff, such as adj. struts/shocks or drag struts/shocks, and upper/lower control arms....adjustable uppers with a -2* pinion angle would really help. And def get some sub frames...then you will be able to dump the cluch and bang some gears

with a set of mt drags you should be able to launch harder and get a 1.7. that is what i did to improve my 60'.
by the way what would a 8.26, 1.73 60' convert over to in quarter mile times?

Just checked out some of my old timeslips and one of them was an 8.9 at 77mph, with a 1.9 60ft. Quarter mile on that run was 13.9 at 96mph. Hope this helps, nice times by the way.

I dont know if that's good for thirteens or not but I dont think anyone can say, there are too many factors, like my tko-600, slows down (widens)my first gear, but makes the other gears really close.

yea i cant wait to get into the suspension, i'm kinda worried about the axels though, from what i hear they're a bit of a hit/miss type thing , i figure next time out i could pull a lower 1.8, and a 8.8 hopefully
