Today i was just driving and my check engine light turned on. Car seemed to be running just fine, had its normal power and everything. I went to my grandpas and unplugged the negative terminal and stepped on the brake for a while. I hooked it back up and started it up. Let it idle for a few minutes. No check engine light. I drive up to my friends and park my car there. I start fiddling under the hood because my car as of today, the idle is fluctuating like mad. Only when the car is moving though. When the car is moving (rolling...clutch in/neutral) the idles stick at whatever RPM they were before I let off the gas, and then quickly go down to idle, and back up to about 1500, then idle, and back and forth. I though IAC. Its new, but I pulled it off anyway. I checked hoses from the MAF/TB, readjusted them etc. Started the car up again and got a check engine light. I pop the hood again and reset the computer again. Start it up, no code. I drove a few miles, and got some car wash and stuff. Went back to my friends house, still no CEL. I leave again, and go back home. Still nothing. I've noticed today though, that my car has been acting slightly strange. Say you're cruising, with a steady 'foot feed' and then let off the gas in gear. The car doesn't begin to slow down or buck or anything. For a good second or two, then you can feel the car lunge and slow down. Kinda weird. Maybe its normal, but I never noticed it before.

Any idea how to pull the codes without a code reader? Nothing is open tonight.

I think you'll just have to wait until a place opens in order for you to get the codes pulled. I don't know of any other way of doing it unless you have software yourself.
