I am getting raped on shipping!, I just baught a brand new set of KYB gas ajust shocks (all 4) for 102.50 and the guy sent me the shipping quote and shipping was over 23.00. Is it just me or is that quite high

Since shocks have gas, they might be considered hazardous material and therefore have higher shipping costs.

how far were they shipped?

Shocks weigh about what, 8 pounds each? Thats about 32 pounds total. That would be about $13 shipping alone. The other $10 is probably packaging and his time to the post office.

I ALWAYS get a shipping quote before buying an ebay item, Ive been in your shoes. With that said $23 isnt that bad, but could be a bit cheaper. For reference a box sized for 4 shocks weighing nothing costs about $7-8 to send UPS. Just sent one last week, had a couple big decals and weighed under a pound.

I got an HEI distributor on Ebay and that guy definitely made some money on shipping. My mistake was not getting a shipping quote. People don't mind if you make a dollar or two off shipping....but I know damn well it didn't cost that much to ship that distributor. They are heavy...but they aren't 25 dollars heavy.

$23 to ship 4 shocks is pretty damn reasonable. When I bought my set of 00R bilsteins, the box was 3 feet long and probably almost 1 foot square. Thats no small box.

Postage and shipping have nothing in common on ebay.Always ask before you bid as there are plenty of people making money off the shipping on ebay and they are proud of it.

If its UPS theres automatically insurance up to $100 included, you pay extra to insure values over that amount.

I'd say that $23 is reasonable. Remember, there is more to shipping than just the shipping...packaging is an issue too.

I also agree that $23 isn't a lot for shipping and handling. There's more to shipping than just the freight. The seller has to package them, then transport them to the carrier ( thats his time & money too) Plus Paypal fees if you're paying that way. ( .30 + 3% of the auction total)

I see your points though

TT - Always check with the Postal service as well as UPS. UPS's minimum charge is basicly 8 bucks in my experiance.

If you have a light item you can save loads through USPS.

That's fair. I sold a set of shocks on ebay and it cost 14 bucks for only 2 shocks.
