I just installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge in my 91 because the stocker was scaring me. The engine has 220,000 miles, the only thing I've done to the motor is scrape off the oil screen 10k ago. Nothing else in the motor has been touched.
Cold startup idle = 58psi
3000 rpms cold = 80psi
Hot idle 45psi
Hot cruising 70psi
Wierd thing, when I'm on it, oil pressure builds until 4500 rpm, than stops building momentarily, than slowly rises. During normal driving, oil pressure rises and falls with RPM.
This seems high to me... its an Autometer gauge.
What do you all think? I use Valvoline Max-life 10W-40, oil was just changed with new Motorcraft filter.
