Just installed a mini tach in my 68. Looks great and was not too hard to install. My question is that upon startup, it takes a second to "register" and for the needle to move. Unlike some cars I've driven when the needle immediately moves to idle or high idle. Anyone else have a Rocketman mini tach that can confirm correct operation?
Thanks

Does it work correctly after it starts registering RPM?

All tachs I've ever used start registering RPM when the engine fires. Construction varies widely and I can only speculate that maybe the electronics in the Rocketman tach have a startup delay or need to sample engine speed briefly before displaying it correctly.

Thx! yes, it does work fine after a few seconds. Does seem to calibrate as it makes a slight noise as well.

Do you still have the old factory voltage regulator powering the gauges?

Is this the right Rocketman tach?
Rocketman's Classic Cougar Innovations
If so, it has a start up and a processor, and I have seen gauges in new Fords do what you describe. So it’s not like the parts store Sun or Auto Gauge tachometers. It also looks like they have great support and you can call or message for confirmation.
