Hi everyone, I have an 2003 v6 mustang with 115000miles, best car I ever owned.
In the last 3 wks when I acelarate between 40 mph and 55 mph it hesitates like it does not want to run anymore, but if I keep the speed at 45 mphor anywhere in btwwen it runs good, it has new plugs, wires and I put Lucas injector cleaner on every 3rd tank of gas. There are no lights on the dash to service engine. I was told that it could be the coil, but I dont think that is right.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but reading over the bottles of injector cleaner, there are some that arn't suppose to be used but every 3000 miles or so, I would double check with the injector cleaner. There are some that are safe to use every fill up, that could result in power lose.

well the coils do lose power , mine did , so i got an accel supercoil , not really sure how much better they really are cause when i bought the car it was slow , but it did make it a little faster than before , a little more throttle response and better starts , if it is the coil than itll probably take a while starting , but that can also be due to other problems , but if it really does do that at a specific speed than yeah id think it was the coil too , although usually when powerloss s an issue people usual jump straight for the fuel pump or fuel filter , does it have trouble climbing hills? if you floor it from zero to 60 what does it do then , not stopping at 45 , if the power stays consistent and it doesnt seem to bog down a whole lot at gear changes than its either your not getting enough air in the intake , somethins up with the coil , or your exuast is making alot of backpressure

Mom's 02 had a similar problem.

- intermittently it would "bog" and hesitate with moderate to heavy throttle.
- light throttle, it would not do it
- floor it and it would hesitate, spit, and even pop out of the tailpipe.
- idled totally normal
- no engine light.
- eventually it got worse and did it much more often.

What was it? Coil pack was bad. Replaced it and the car ran soooo much better, mileage improved and it felt a ton faster than before. I guess it was failing slowly over time, so even with a stock replacement coil, it FELT faster. I wouldn't waste time with a high performance unit. Your old coil is probably so bad that any gain in power you attribute to the coil is likely just placebo effect because your old coil was failing slowly over time and you never noticed.

Also, the "tractor sound" that lots of these V6 Mustangs have went away.
