tires

WOW, I have never heard of anyone getting 40,000 miles out of the Goodyears, I was only able to get 24,000 and that is with a light foot and lots of highway miles.
You might want to look at an H rated tire versus a Z Rated tire. They tend to have harder long wearing tire compound. They due perform very well but because of the lower speed rating and harder compound do not have the stick of higher rated performance tires. Sounds like you are commuting a lot with your Stang, the H rated might be a good choice. Also suggest you check the Reviews link on this site for more details on different tires..

I got 48,000 + out of my original set. I drive alot of highway mileage. 110 - 120 miles a day. I now have the Nitto 555's and am very pleased. It is a much better tire than the original goodyear. I don't go to the strip, mines is a daily driver right now. I now have over 66,000 miles on the car (02 GT) and the tires don't even look half worn. I would reccomend the Nitto 555.

I've had mine for about 4,000 miles. Decent wear, good grip, great price.

I recently purchased Continental ContiExtreme Contact.... they have an excellent dry/wet rating AND treadwear to 400... VR,WR,YR,ZR speed rating....I've no complaints EXCEPT.. find someone with a HUNTER GSP 9000/9700 wheel balancer...

The Nitto Extreme Performance tires are great. I've got them now. Good traction and decent tire wear.

They will be my next tire also. Getting them again for sure.

I've been looking at the Sumitomo HTR Z II's myself...they are supposed to be pretty sticky tires for the corners and good riding as well. 104 each is pretty darn cheap too

I went with the KDWS about 4 months ago. there is no comparison to wet/dry traction of the origional goodyears.... like night and day in my opinion.....very happy...... I also rotated the hell out of the goodyears and got 33,000 out of them although they were whooped at around 27,000.... so far i have 6000 miles on the bfg's and wearing nicely...

40,000 on the stock Goodyears, that's pretty good. I only got 9000 until one blew out on 66. I was so pissed off, I replaced all of them with KDWS. You should have seen the sales guy, when I told him to replace all of them.
