Really tempted to sell my 'stang.

I love the car and all, but the crap I have had to go through in replacing it and such, it is almost a frickin money pit. So far I have replaced:
-Power steering pump
-Idler Pulley
-Underdrive pulleys almost all were squeaking
-AC clutch
-Clutch
-Convertable top parts
-Power seat issues
-Bumper cover from retard who hit me
-Intake Manifold
-AC compressor
-Power window motors

All within just a few months. The car looks beautiful, but I just cant be dealing with a car that takes a crap on me every other week. And recently the key wouldnt start the frickin car either.

Would any :SNSign: get rid of it too?

from all the stuff you listed it seems like almost routine maintenance except for the intake manifold but on 4.6s it kinda is. Every car is gonna have things like you listed go wrong. I say if you like the stang keep it but dont sell it just because you have had a couple things you had to replace.

The only thing purchased by the previous owners (brother in law and his father) was flowmasters, CAI and tires on top of the typical oil change. And yeah im tempted to get a 01-04 coupe.

Right after I cleaned it up after the intake swap last weekend.

you'd be stupid to trade your car for another 99-04 GT. if you're going to trade it, go for a Cobra or Mach 1.

My first vehicle pulled that kind of stuff. It was fine right after I bought it, and then it took a dump for the next few months almost constantly. I still have it now, and since then its been rock freakin solid.

Its a hit or miss weather it will be reliable, or keep breaking now. But I gotta say, thats way out of routine matenince for what you replaced...

And never should replacing an intake manifold be routing matenince..

Ford fawked up on that design.

all cars are gonna have their problems. heck my car was on the lot for a year before it was bought and it had teeth marks from mice on some of the wires in the engine bay lol. Some idiot must have been eating his lunch while putting my car together at the factory and that atracted mice lol and they prob would have eaten my whole car too if i didnt buy it. And yes ford fixed it all lol but i know thats not mechanical problems but it did have to have the windshield washer nozzles cleaned out cause they didnt work when i bought it.

I say keep teh car though man.

Routine maintenance? I've had my car 2 years and off that list had only had a problem with my power window motors. Replacing AC clutches and compressors should not be "routine" maintenance...

I might advise selling it and getting a newer one, or one with a warranty if you dont fix the car yourself

I'd agree, that's beyond routine stuff that breaks, unless your car has like 200k miles. If you're tired of it, sell it. I only say that cuz I did the same thing. I had an 04 with 30k miles, had some engine ticking Ford just couldn't fix...even with brand new heads. And when they put the new heads on, it started leaking oil. Enough was enough....sometimes you just get a bum car ya know. I actually traded mine to the same dealer that couldn't fix it, and they didn't even know what they got! Its still on the lot!

Soooo....in my case I paid 20k for the 04, and if I get another one, it will most likely be an 01-02 for like 10k. I was just pissed considering how much I paid for the car to have so many probs.

Just don't lose a ton of bucks on it by trading it for somethign that's almost the same car...especially on top of what you've paid in repairs.

Luckily, i know the previous owners since they are in my family the first was my father in law and the second was my brother in law. They only drove it from the ft. myers area to daytona and to ohio in the summer. I bought it for half the blue book on it at the time and will probably get about $3k back when I go to sell it. I would really want a 01-04 but due to me being a student and only working part time that kind of payment would be a little too pricey for me. Thats why all of a sudden I'm starting to like '95's-98's.

I really want a car with some kind of power adder, so I could have that DD that I could take to the track and run it a few times and turn on the AC on my way home. That's why a fox body or SN95 are just as attractive as a LS1 3rd gen Camaro I have my eye on in my neighborhood.

I'm kinda stuck in the middle and am willing to ride it out as long as I dont get stuck with fixing more crap along the way.

Really tempted to sell my 'stang.
