I was inspecting a grinding noise coming from the rear end when braking, and noticed the caliper bracket on the driver's side was riding way too close to the rotor.

Jacked up the car and noticed that there is a slight amount of play when I push and pull the wheel, and the rotor moves with the wheel leading me to think this is whats causing the grinding noise, the slight grooves in my new rotors, and that I have axle problems.
The play is a millimeter, maybe less, and the other side doesn't do the same.

What does this mean? Do I have a major repair coming my way? The car drives as fine as it ever has, no noises and is smooth on the highway.
