Does the rear axle seal get tapped in until the back is against the bearing race or just until it's flush with the end of the housing? It's been a while since I pulled them out so I can't remember.

Im guessing your talking about the outer axle seals?

My factory seals are flush with the end of the axle tube.

Any idea what tools I need to replace them while I have the axles out?

Thanks, I used the end of the axle as a pry bar to get the old ones out. I plan to tap the new ones in with a rubber mallet so the new ones don't get damaged.

I use a seal puller....looks like a hook. To install I use a seal driver but anything flat that is bigger then the seal will work. And the seal should be flush with the housing.

Make sure you use something to hit instead of the seal itself like a plate of steel or something. I push the new seal in a little and than place the driver tool on the seal and give a few whacks untill the seal if evenly flush.

I used a Giant Socket to install my new ones, they had a flange on them so you could only get it flush with the housing and no further in.
